There are defining moments that come to us – reminding us of our blessings. They oftentimes reveal themselves in the most unexpected of places, as we travel down our paths. And, whether they are blessings in disguise, or unique challenges that may tempt our inner demons, they mold and change us. These ongoing challenges make us come to appreciate the rare, truest gifts. One needn’t look too far to discover that the littlest things – these relished things that are not truly “things” – indeed are the most valuable, loved “things” in our lives that we should be ever-thankful for, and to forever cherish.

These most beloved “things” in our lives are the enduring friendships, our support systems, and the tender guidance of a loved one. They are the silent prayers others freely offer – the sweetest embraces – and the whispers of encouragement. They are the unity of our communities, the free flowing, thoughtful critiques of fellow artists and writers, and the tight-knit bond we all share. It is such a wondrous feeling when someone else discovers the unexpected beauties in something we have crafted from the love of our very own hands – and in sharing that beautiful creation with other exceptional artists we know will appreciate it. It is a marvelous thing too when there is a connection shared between us. That rare feeling means so much to those it impacts on a daily basis – and it does make a difference. One kind word or gesture of appreciation can shine a light upon someone deserving of it. Everyday, we have the opportunity to reach out and shine that beautiful light upon others – why not take it? Take the moment – seize it – but also remember the importance of humility. Try not to allow arrogance to destroy that loving, positive light.

Taking the moment to always say “thank-you” – even for something that may seem insignificant at the time, could mean everything to the person to whom you have offered it. Little things do impact us, whether we choose to see them or not – as these tiny fragments of positive light surround us, daily. It touches us in far greater ways we may not easily recognize, but that rare light is always shining. These lights are the quiet angels who endeavor to work tirelessly to influence change and generously embrace the world around them, with boundless love. These are the cherished ones who we need to truly open our eyes to and appreciate. These quiet, loving angels sometimes leave the most everlasting impacts – let us all be thankful.

Angels Among Us
Remember the Angel?
Remember the angel that wiped your tears and made you brightly smile?
You always told her to let you be; you were always in denial.
Remember the angel that sang you to sleep and played with your hair?
You never cared to have her near you, though that smile was still there
Remember the angel that waited for you, the one who waited countless hours?
You never seemed to even notice, I guess that was your power
Remember the angel that saved your life, risking also her own?
You ran away and left her there, you left her there alone
Remember the angel that fell from heaven, only to be with you?
You marked her with your sin and made her feel brand new
Remember the angel with crystal eyes and long white hair let down?
You see how she feels alone; do you see that awful frown?
Remember the angel, please remember her now, can't you feel her love?
All of that was only for you , sent from above
Remember the angel, don't you remember the angel,

And, whether they are blessings in disguise, or unique challenges that may tempt our inner demons, they mold and change us. These ongoing challenges make us come to appreciate the rare, truest gifts.

I had one of those moments in the US. And although I still feel heartbroken and pained that it happened, it did make me fully appreciate the friends and the support systems that I do have in my life. And of course, there is no better place than here in this journal, and on deviantART, where I am reminded once more about the enduring gift of love and friendship. So thank you.
