Personal News
As the December season continues in full force, I take several moments to count the blessings that life has to offer and to savor these joys. Despite how difficult it is to be joyous during this time of year, I am thankful for so many things. I try my best to focus on the positive memories when my painful winter heartbreak settles in, as I do everything I can to adhere to my hope and strength.
Everyday, I do my best to reach out to others in a loving way, because life is simply too short to take the love we receive and those everyday life blessings for granted. Many often forget to say 'thank you,' or 'I appreciate you,' or 'I love you,' and to know just how important it sometimes is. I certainly know that other writers can appreciate the value and beauty of words, and what they ultimately mean to us. I also realize sometimes (without meaning to,) we overlook someone else's pain, because we are so hurt and blindsided by our own to open our eyes, and see through another individual's perspective. It is just as easy for everyone to take a moment to reach out to others, as it is to choose to ignore their tribulations. I prefer to be pro-active, and extend my hand and my heart to others. In my own heart, I know that this is what my Momma would have wanted. I pray everyday that I continue to make her proud by loving others, and by standing by my word.
This year, I pray for well being and happiness. Always take the time to reflect, and to remember what the holiday season is really about. It is never about those empty, physical things. These things can be replaced and forgotten. The caring season is about expressing our love, hopes, and by cherishing those around us who make differences in our lives, reminding us what we mean to them. When I fondly recall my own special memories, I think first of family. Through each endearing lesson we learn for the upcoming year, never forget that despite how alone you may feel at times, someone out there is thinking of you – and loves and values you more than you might ever know.

Thumbs: Change of Season, of Heart
You Look Like I Need A DrinkStatic verses quaking through crippled fingers, lisps written into inebriated meaning. And I tried with fervent failure to pronounce the sarcasm spewing from my palms, but they were naughty syllables, practicing cohesion without permission, and heaving disjointed language from my rotten, rotten teeth.
She straggles with boulder bones sinking through infectious flesh, frantic slurs bleeding from her throat. And I stumble for words, endeavoring to compose rainbows of smeared thought, but my vocal chords stutter unintelligible sympathy, incoherent accents and forced definition.
So I draw this poetic slop from corroded neurons, eager to drain the deformity from metaphors, the dialects distorted by ancient tongues. But my every opinion staggers through intoxication, trying to find a stable image in visions of jittery focus.
Alcohol insinuating rough apologies.

FallFor a while it will seem
as if I was never coming back,
like summer or a childhood dream.
Your toes twist in the September sand
and the chill reminds you
that some thoughtless time,
some apple-scented eve
the old dog will growl low,
the night shadows stir;
moths will dart desperate
through an open door--
and you will watch solitude disappear
like broken, restless love.
thawingmy love,
i swear, there is a ghost beneath my bones.
she slides around the rungs of my ribs, gentle like a lover's hands but cold, so unlike yours. i lay in bed at night, days after you have gone, your jacket and seven blankets struggling to keep me warm -but her arctic touch seeps deeper, slides its way past my lips and settles in places i swore only you could touch. and i am left gasping, arching, desperate for a body one hundred and thirty eight miles away, a voice that doesn't seem nearly as warm after traveling through the airwaves, a spring that only exists in your arms.
because i miss laughter, i miss your eyes, i miss the feeling of thawing after forty days in the tundra of my own heart, and two in yours.
Dear Daddy's GirlDear Naive 15,
You're ignorant as Hell.
You dress in baggy blue jeans, wear an oversized hoodie every day, and never let your hair down. Students at school, and even your mom, think you're gay… and you don't even know.
All of your classmates blame you for a burn book that circulated after that Mean Girls movie. Everyone thinks you're a jealous bitch and secretly they mock you. How can you not see that?
Your teachers are all positive that you cut yourself and that you're always on drugs. Even now you have no idea why they ask you to take your jacket off during class. Could it be that you always wear long sleeves?
It's okay, sweetheart. I had to find out the hard way, too.
Right now you're probably wishing your dad was home. He's the only one that will read your stories and tell you how creative you are. You don't have to beg him to watch movies with you, and he'll listen to your favorite songs without calling you suicidal. Right now, living wi

Jorge never ceases to amaze me with his powerful poetry and prose, which always packs a vibrant, imagery-filled "punch." Though this talented deviant has only been present on DeviantART for a few short months, his writing is consistently beautiful and well worth returning to, again and again.
