I still have yet to find the words that will do her memory justice, but I will continue to seek them out with love and honor.

The paragraphs in italics are my mother's, quoted verbatim.

EDIT: Thank you to ^Beccalicious and `thetaoofchaos for the DD.

Oh wow ... this is incredible. What a beautifully haunting way to tell this  story.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I know that that's a kind of loss whose hurt never quite goes away.

"I remind myself to be strong in times of turmoil, just as she was, even if it were not an easy task – I would do this for her. I would honor my mother's cherished memory every single day, by never surrendering."

Your mother was strong, and although I'm newer to your circle, I can tell that you really take after her in that way. I think you would make/are making her very proud.

This is...breathtaking. I am fighting back the tears as I read this, thinking of my own mother as well (as many of us have mentioned already). What she has done for myself and all her children is worth fighting for, and I can't see me losing my mother at this point in my life. It would be, too hard to even imagine happening. She is part of my strength, just as so many are.

Fantastic, and a well deserved, DD.

This was so human. Wonderful. Especially: "I find it hard to imagine not being able to imagine."

I pray she rests in peace. I can tell you are very strong, being able to write about something so personal and hard to thing about. You and her are definately both wonderful people.

I'm not sure whether to attempt to hug you the way I would any of my friends, say "i'm sorry for your loss", or congratulate you on something so well written.
You can feel the pain, the heart and the soul of this. You can understand the everything in your words, see it clearly as if you were the one who did the loosing, in both sides of their struggle. I dont know if this is because many people have others they care about so deeply, and that intrinsically calls to us, or if its because of your fine writing ability.
It was called an "undiluted snapshot", and this is completely accurate. Where words fail us daily, this somehow manages to use words as one uses a camera, to capture a moment, a synapse, a glimpse back in time. You forget the words as you get lost in the imagery, the brilliance, and the complete humanity of this.
If one day I can write like this and find a way to make the words disappear into the making of something more important, then I will truly be a great writer. In the meantime, you've leapt over that boundary and gone flying far past it.

Beautiful. Your mother was (and still is) a beautiful soul. Your final words made me cry.

I am told that as long as we are remembered we are not gone, never forgotten. Your mother will be with you always.

this gave me the chills. My mom came from an abusive home and survived a deadly cancer so this really touches me. I hope that I can be as strong as she is

Very well done.

I'm always humbled when people share something like this... even if they leave me with nothing to say.
dreamsinstatic Featured By Owner Jun 5, 2011
This reminds me of many things I prefer not to be reminded of, but in moments when something does stir those memories back into my consciousness it also makes me think about how I am not alone in having been somewhere you never wish to be. I can't decide if this has made me sad or if it makes me hopeful about using the days we have ahead of us still. Either way it is beautifully written, and the combination of two different views is incredibly insightful.

oops find the words to tell your and your mother's story. Congratulations, I imagine this would be very difficult. I hope it gave you some sort of peace, or the start of the feeling of peace.
